The Conclave was an influential group of citizens in the Vermailian Confederacy, apparently the real power behind the official Representative Assembly. At the peak of its influence around 5261–5296 s.y.v.p, its members covered a wide spread of Vermailian society, with some notables including Vice Admiral Ratan Dutrilik, Eln Galpan of the Cleft research team, and (perhaps surpisingly to the uninitiated) both Archprelate Varen Ontoli of the Arcturian church and enigmatic Ta’rot’rag disciple Cerys Irolat.

While little is known for certain due to purges following the Parallax Urgency, it was the Conclave that gave the go-ahead to the construction of The Cleft and set in motion campaigns leading to the Battle of Kriinkok. Evidence suggests that they may have even sent delegates among the Bazrahin. Rumors of the Conclave’s involvement with the Almnetic Decay, however, are surely unfounded speculation from rabid conspiracy theorists.

After their failures at Kriinkok, the apparent influence of the Conclave diminished from Vermailian society, although again there are those that believe the Conclave merely went even further underground and that their successors directed Vermailian society for many years thereafter.
