The Battle of Kriinkok was the largest single fleet action seen during the Parallax Urgency. A running series of minor skirmishes culminated when the UVSDF Third Fleet, commanded by Fleet Admiral Gurta Cornoqa, clashed with two fleets of the Vermailian Confederacy outside the orbit of Kriinkok Quarte, the system’s largest gas giant. Predicted in the Gar’tor’at Prophecy as a Vermailian victory, the battle is infamous among both military and religious scholars, as the tactics used by both the UVSDF and Vermailian fleets during the battle relied heavily on differing interpretations of the prophecy. Underscoring the Prophecy’s ongoing collapse, Admiral Cornoqa, reversed a prophesied Vermailian ambush, arranging a counter ambush, which jumped into the system only after battle had been engaged. The reserve force destroyed three Vermailian war-clusters and their flagship, the heavy carrier Caraxa, before the stunned Vermailians could respond. With their leadership gone and their faith shaken, the Vermailian fleets scattered, leaving the system in Viridian hands.
