Returners

A political and social movement to effect Viridian harmony via migration/exodus. The Returner agenda triggered vital discourse regarding the Viridia system’s future.

For 75 years after the start of the Parallax Urgency, intellectuals and politicians proposed a Return to the stars (or for some a reboot) as the preferred future. After centuries of technological advancement and political tumult, culminating in troublesome heterochron advances and the devastating collapse of the Arcturian church, Viridia found itself in existential crisis.

The Returners focused on a few concerns:

  1. Viridia Prime would not sustain its inhabitants for another millennium (resources)
  2. Continued Viridian arrogance would aggravate this hardship (conflict)
  3. Viridian history and knowledge would survive abandonment but not collapse (redundancy)

Once outside the Viridia system, new planets and new possibilities awaited, and back in the system old enemies would be free to battle one another.

An exodus was an exciting, hopeful proposal that most supported on paper, but sobering unknowns and the importance of a homeworld identity were powerful counter forces. Thus the Returners’ principles seeped into other platforms, but no one planned the eviction nor the exodus.
