The Malika Core Grid was the first and only Core generator shifted into full-scale production. Its revolutionary ideas and dramatic story shaped Viridian history.

Following the Achronic Inverter, Dula Jyrexil continued her passionate research into energy production, and for the next wave she targeted the powers of the mind—an idea she carried since her formative years in the Deorsai Protectorate. She quickly found success in human/alien cellular cocktails, but she insisted upon further material research. Since fuel was modular and continually replaced, synthetics could reduce the financial and ethical costs of harvesting.

Jyrexil named the grid after a character in an Intoan legend. It told of a woman scorned by and ejected from her home world for her telepathic abilities.

Jyrexil’s life paralleled the disillusionment and withdrawal of Malika’s. Jyrexil’s parent institution put politics before research and executed a secret harvesting mission without her knowledge or input. An excerpt from the legend:

She’s drifting far from Shunar’s light
and leaking dreams of yesterday.
Each moment brings another fear,
and ev’ry thought has lost its way.
Dark waves will crash upon our minds
until her tears have cooled the stars.
Malika, please forgive us all,
your soul knew truth deeper than ours.
