Byforalla, known as the Mirror City, was the cultural center of the Ctjn Empire, founded by Xafane-Arie I, known as Xafane the Inimitable. Every building was constructed according to strict codes that decreed that all roofed and walled structures must have reflective surfaces in order to deflect the attacks of hostile air forces using Neutron Lasers. The skyway cars also adhered to this standard, making the city an utterly enchanting yet confusing place for tourists. To better have a sense of one’s location, many citizens carried their own global positioning devices.

The Mirror City was known for its blown glass, with several competing glassblowing guilds competing to have their creations displayed all over the Empire. The line in the Empire between the middle class and poor was thus that owning an art-deco blown glass piece was a sign that one had decent disposable income. The rich often had several pieces of blown glass filled with varying amounts of water to be gently played by a small band. Glassplaying bands were customized for the ensembles, contrary to most galactic musical practices in which the instrument is made for the musician.
