The existence of the Garott Ornati has been long debated. The historical reality is that they did exist, up until the great Hegemonic Purge of 6782, though the extent of their activities is somewhat less than the legends would have us believe.

The Garott Ornati were a secret group of Historians (some would say “spies”) within the Tomorrow Hive. Prior to establishing contact with any new civilization, the Ornati would be sent in. Aided by the use of aleworms, they would establish themselves within the civilization, in positions ranging from the plebeian to the aristocracy. Each Ornatum would send back a daily report. If, after a few centuries of observation, the Hive considered this new civilization worthy, diplomatic contact would be established.

The stories of the Garrott Ornati secretly manipulating governmental and corporate politics are merely propaganda spread to discredit the Hive. There is absolutely no historical evidence linking them to the disappearance, theft, or destruction of any of the Nova Generators.
