(The?) Druniad was the Greenling elder/office which handled most interaction with the human residents of Viridia Segunda. While no part of the Greenlings was ever hesitant to interact with other races, the Druniad’s strong grasp of language and causality made it a superior interlocutor.

The Druniad appeared numerous times throughout recorded history, usually to complain about an increase in human telecommunications activity, or to request the temporary evacuation of a region in which an important Greenling religious ceremony was likely to occur.

The last recorded contact with the Druniad occured shortly before the activation of the First Nova Generator, when it appeared to a rural farmer, bearing gifts of rare minerals and Jun-fruit (nearly three kilograms, an almost unimaginable bounty), and recited a short speech offering thanks for “the pungent rains of your tomorrows.” It is likely that the loss of the generator delayed the onset of the White Flower Dreaming by nearly half a century. Whether the bloom would have been as destructive if it had proceeded on schedule is less clear.
