Apex Station was the second of the Pinnacle-class orbital defense platforms. It was constructed in high orbit over Viridia Prime over the course of two Prime solar years. It replaced the aging Exalius Orbital Platform as the primary staging base for the Eighth (Valkyrie) Interceptor Wing of the United Viridian Stellar Defense Forces. In addition to its defensive role, portions of the 1,240-meter diameter station were dedicated to weather correction and civilian space traffic control.

The station remained notably apart from the upheval and chaos immediately following the destruction of the Third Nova Generator, despite being alternately courted and threatened by many different factions. The one major exception to the station’s neutrality was the daring raid which became known as Operation Aurora.
