Quentalism

A euphemism for arson originating from “The Great Juvenility” that followed Erasermind’s spread.

Quentin Klapphk, director of Mary, Lurly and Co., lived a modest life as a slapstick comedian in Viridia Segunda. Klapphk rose to fame in a series of vapid children’s movies entitled “You Want Me to Put What on What?” that began as educational efforts and degraded into plotless physical hijinks.

Klapphk’s characters typically put fire on things. For example, his award winning portrayal of VarVar the Snittle consisted of Klapphk igniting his overgrown hair, attempting to extinguish the flames with an Yylimium dusted rag, and subsequently annihilating a fleet of Vermailian battle ships. Typically, Klapphk’s characters would narrowly escape death after being slapped to their senses by bottomless maidens. Much has already been said about Klapphk’s psychological wellness.

Thus, “Quentalism” came to describe Klapphk’s fumbling, combustible behavior, and when Erasermind made fire “fun to watch” for children and adults alike, arson gained an alias. To everyone’s surprise, a slap to the face typically mitigated the risk of a flame-wielding Erasermind. For those communities deeply affected by the drug, fires consumed generations of prosperity.
