Perception Field

An advanced sensory projection device, developed by the Vermailian Confederacy and rumored to be based on Intoan technology.

For millenia, scientists have yearned to understand the inner workings of the humanoid mind. Telepathy, despite being a natural gift, baffles scientists to this day. Historically, psychiatrists, neurologists, somnacombists, and pediatricians followed separate paths to uncover the mind’s secrets in hope of new treatments and revelations. The success of the Eloi Farms led researchers to consolidate their efforts, and there was little doubt that thought probes would be feasible by 5250 s.y.v.p.

However, by 5234 s.y.v.p., obstacles erupted from numerous sources, including ethicists and psychiatrists who feared the implications of “mind reading,” but the predominant resistance came from the Confederacy. They understood how to shield organic telepathy, but technological devices had no limits. Scientists were forbidden to continue.

The military consolidated the research and spun off the Mind Bomb project, which ultimately produced the Perception Field. The technology remains classified, but the Confederacy openly discussed the “weapon” which it considerd to be “no worse than blasting Cerys Irolat at prisoners.”

Indeed, Cerys Irolat’s Synaesthetic Orgy has been a perennial top seller.
