Welcome to Saturn Valley!

We're all Mr. Saturn here!

After years of promising to organize my web site, I've finally done it, kind of. [Update, 2009: Okay, it's not very organized any more, and much of the description below is no longer accurate or complete. Alas.] The Hall of Light is a photo gallery and the rather optimistically-titled Preprint Server contains random stuff I've written, presently about 50% cranky essays on Japanese import culture and 50% other stuff.

The rest of the sections are various projects that I've done on one whim or another. The Postfuturist Project was my contribution to contemporary art while I was in college. My intention was to do postmodern visual art one better; you can judge whether I succeeded. There's the untitled hypertext essay about my trip to Japan in 2004, which is probably the most interesting thing on the site, and may raise questions about my sanity.

And finally, there are some collected materials pertaining to Calchas, my character in a tabletop role-playing campaign that I'm playing in Seattle. The Calchas material was intended for the other players and may or may not be of interest to the rest of the universe, but I think I've managed to produce some (sporadically) interesting writing and thus I've posted it here. In particular, Calchas' little essay on the Principles might well be a masterpiece of its genre (whatever that is), and in any case it will put to rest any lingering doubts about my sanity.

The name Saturn Valley is a reference to the visionary science fiction classic Earthbound, and in particular its character Mr. Saturn, whom I regard as one of my chief intellectual role models.
